10 FUND RAISING TIPS – Here are a few ideas to jumpstart the process:

1. Begin by confessing to God that you can’t do it alone.  You need His help.

2. Make a list of all the people you know. (i.e. friends, relatives, doctor, lawyer, dentist, teacher, neighbors, parents co-workers etc).

3. Write a 1-page Fund Raising Newsletter or email and send it to them as soon as possible.  (Search “mission’s trip fund raising letter” in Google for samples and ideas).

4. Follow-up on your newsletters 2 weeks after they are sent out.  Don’t be shy!

5. Develop an e-group to update your supporters on your progress via e-mail.

6. Save! Save!! Save!!!  A little bit goes a long way over time.  Be proactive.

7. Set a monthly goal. (i.e. if you have 4 months to raise $800, then set a goal to raise $200 each month until your goal is met.  Some people find it much easier to raise funds this way than one large lump sum).

8. Don’t wait till the last minute to raise the funds. Start now.

9. Write down all the pledges and send reminders.

10. Buy souvenirs and gifts for your donors on the mission trip.  Supply them with pictures, a newsletter or a thank-you card upon your return.
